As humans, we have remarkable abilities that help us deal with distress, adversity, and trauma with the resources we have available to us. Resiliency is not something that is developed because of our struggles, but rather is an innate strength that every human possesses. As a therapist, it is my privilege to be witness to the amazing things that my clients have done to get to where they are today, including reaching the starting point of therapy.
I believe that therapy can be a profound space for people to understand parts of their authentic selves that may feel distant due to adversity and trauma, including but not limited to systemic, cultural, familial, and relational harm. I aim to help clients through this in a nonjudgmental and client-centered lens that honors their whole self, first and foremost. We have many parts of self that impact how we interact with the world, and part of my approach is helping clients understand these parts to help them build awareness and work in tandem with them.
I am trained in the Adaptive Internal Relational (AIR) Network framework of healing complex trauma and am currently working towards my certification. Through the AIR Network framework, I utilize concepts based in neurology, human development, intersectionality, and resilience to guide clients in building their personal autonomy and healing. I also integrate the AIR framework with elements of experiential, emotion-focused, narrative, and mindfulness-based therapies.
I work with clients ages 16+ in a variety of mental health concerns, including specialized experience in eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image distress using an intersectional, body liberationist approach. As a self-identified fat person, I enjoy working with people in larger bodies to connect them with their authentic parts of self that have felt distant or hidden due to societal anti-fatness. Depending on your goals, this can include using Health at Every Size principles and an anti-diet lens.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing trivia games with friends, reading, knitting, and listening to music.
