A mirror allows us to see ourselves, however, sometimes this mirror can be distorted by our unhelpful thinking patterns. I believe therapy can provide a less distorted mirror to see ourselves more accurately in order to make the changes we want to make to live a healthier, happier life. I have experience with a wide variety of populations as I believe everyone, from all walks of life, deserves support. I have worked with primarily adults and a modest amount with couples. Previously I have worked with individuals who have a serious and persistent mental illness, folks in crisis, and people just looking to explore themselves and find more effective ways of coping with life. My background has offered me a way of witnessing the world of mental health from different angles. From working at Regions hospital on in-patient psychiatry units and experiencing the crisis level mental health concerns of patients, then working as an adult rehabilitative mental health practitioner where I assisted individuals in developing coping skills and strategies, to working as a therapist who provides therapy to individuals who possess a variety of concerns. I have experience providing therapy to individuals experiencing trauma related concerns, anxiety, agoraphobia, depression, borderline personality disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, self- esteem concerns, relationship concerns, and couple’s therapy. As a therapist I utilize an integrative approach that I actively tailor to whoever I am working with. These approaches vary from CBT, DBT, and ACT to humanistic and existential approaches. Therapy is never a one size fits all in terms of approaches, that’s why I emphasize the importance of individualizing these approaches and building on a safe environment.
