“Persistence and resilience only come from having been given the chance to work through difficult problems”-Gever Tulley.
I believe all people are innately capable of change. This is not to say change is a simple process-like turning on a switch. It is often a difficult and nonlinear path, and involves acknowledging and healing from past trauma. As a counselor, I am committed to creating a welcoming, nonjudgmental, and safe space to work alongside clients towards healing. My approach is grounded in empathy and in building trust in the therapy space. I believe that when a person feels safe to be their authentic self, they are able to start the work in exploring themselves and their relationships with loved ones. My clinical interests are in working with children, teens, families, and young adults. I am continuously inspired by young people, and the opportunity to support those in early stages of life is an honor to me. I strive to join with them and their families to hone strengths and identify challenges, and to discover healthy ways of communication and function. I welcome families of all races and ethnicities, as well as members of the LQBTQ+ community.
Some common issues I address in therapy: anxiety, depression, recovery from trauma and/or addiction, life transitions, family function concerns, grief and loss, exploring gender and sexuality, and self-esteem concerns. I use a variety of evidence-based practices, many stemming from the cognitive behavioral therapy approach. I am always open to feedback and to work with clients to create a plan that works best for them.
Finally, I have a background in the arts, and am more than happy to include creative components as part of the treatment plan. I believe engaging in art can be rewarding for personal and inter-relational growth, and can open us all up to unique perspectives. Thank you for your time in reading this. I hope to be of service to you and your family.
