We don’t have to do all of it alone. We were never meant to” – Bren Brown
Throughout life, many of us are trying to prove we can be independent – from our childhood first steps, to our first job, and well into adulthood. The truth is, as much as we love our independence, we need connection. We need someone to work through the stressors of daily life, as well as our heavy traumatic experiences. In therapy, you can discuss things you may not be able to share with your friends and family, in a safe and secure place. We’ll also work together to help you build empathetic and trusting relationships in your life outside of therapy, so you can have ongoing support.
As a therapist, I use a client centered approach, specifically using methods from CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy). I’m also open to feedback and willing to try anything I can within my competency to help you meet your goals.
I work with individuals who are 16 and older who are experiencing problems such as depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress, grief, relational distress and substance use. I have wanted to help others with their mental health for most of my life, and I am passionate about my work!
Although CARE Counseling does not yet take Tricare insurance, if your circumstances allow, I have specialized training in helping members of our military and their families. The pain of moral injury is especially close to my heart – the terrible feeling that occurs when we or someone else goes against our strongly held values. If this sounds familiar, please give me a call. I’d love to help.
