Wherever you are in life, I am glad that you are here. I know that meeting with a new therapist can be a scary/exciting/nerve-wracking experience. I try to make the first session as comfortable as possible and enjoy the experience of getting to know you to see if we are compatible as client and therapist. Although I have expertise and training in mental health concerns, that does not make me an expert in you. It is my pleasure and privilege to assist clients to grow in the ways that they know they need to based on their individual goals and values.
I use a combination of client-centered, ACT, DBT-informed and IFS-informed approaches. I also use a combination of cognitive-, emotional-, interpersonal-, and somatic-focused interventions with clients. I believe that using a combination of these approaches is most appropriate for improving mental wellness and encompassing the human experience. I work with 18+ individuals with depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, grief and loss, guilt and shame, trauma, and transitional stress.
I am trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy/ART which is an evidence-based, eye movement therapy. Research has indicated that ART can be effective for those struggling with memories, emotions, and sensations connected with traumatic experiences. The therapy itself is scripted which allows the client to speak as much or as little about the trauma.
Before starting my career as a clinical mental health counselor, I had experience working as a direct care staff for children and adults with disabilities. My clinical mental health counseling experience before CARE Counseling was working with young adults at a college counseling center. Although, I have a passion with working with younger adults, I of course greatly enjoy working with older adults as well. I have experience working with various individuals with diverse cultural identities and backgrounds including the LGBTQ+ community.
Outside of the office, I enjoy listening to and playing music (I play the bass, guitar, and mandolin to list a few). I also enjoy watching movies, hiking, jogging, cooking, and spending time with my fiancée and cat. If you have any questions about working with me, I encourage you to reach out! I look forward to connecting with you.
