I believe that a balance of empathy and empowerment is essential for healing and growth.
My therapeutic approach recognizes the strengths and resiliency in every individual, while also acknowledging the weight of the challenges they are carrying. I believe that each person is the expert of their own experiences, and through a supportive relationship and non-judgmental listening, I aim create a space for my clients to feel comfortable, cared for, validated, and seen. I believe in a highly collaborative relationship with my clients, which involves working together as a team to design a plan specifically tailored to their unique identities and experiences.
Therapeutic Stance
I uphold a stance of unconditional positive regard for all those I work with and aim to grow a trusting, supportive relationship with my clients. I view therapy and mental health through a social justice lens, and I believe there is incredible strength and resiliency in our diverse identities. I believe it is critical to understand the impact of one’s environment and culture on wellbeing, as well as the societal systems of oppression that disproportionately impact certain groups. I understand that these factors can significantly impact one’s health and access to equitable care. Even if I cannot personally relate to your experiences, I promise to stand with you and invite you to share your truth with me. I love hearing client feedback and see my clients as my biggest teachers whose feedback helps me learn and grow as a clinician.
Modalities & Populations
I like to use a mixture of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy skills (DBT), solution-focused therapy, and trauma-informed/psychodynamic therapy. I have worked with a wide variety of populations in the social work/mental health field, including kids, teenagers, and their families, people with disabilities, and adults of many different cultural backgrounds. I am passionate about working with underserved communities, including Black, Indigenous, and people of color, the LGBTQIA+ community, individuals facing poverty and homelessness, and individuals with disabilities. I aim to reduce barriers to equitable and affirming care for these populations. I also have a strong interest in working with people with autism (or those who suspect they are) and providing supportive, neuro-affirming therapy. Additionally, I have experience working with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, traumatic experiences, life stressors, and identity issues. If my approach to therapy resonates with you, I would be honored to connect with you and hear your story.
