Hey fellow humans! I’m Kirsten and my pronouns are they/them. For those that are new to therapy and those who are avid therapy goers: All of you is welcome here. Showing up for ourselves can be both the hardest and best thing that we do for ourselves. I’d be honored to show up with you, for you.
My goal as a social worker and therapist is to help you become your own advocate, to walk alongside you in your healing journey, to sit with you in your stories, and to help identify tools that can help you live the life that you want to be living. I believe that people have a right to define success in their own terms and that all people have a right to be treated with dignity and respect. You are the expert in yourself, your needs, and your wants, even when they are hard to express.
Over time I have found that I do my best work with teens (12+), female identifying persons aged 65+, and persons who identify as LGBTQIA2S+. I am sex and body positive and believe whole heartedly in self-determination. I have worked with trauma, depression, anxiety, identity development and change, religious/spiritual trauma, and numerous other life experiences. I approach therapy from a trauma informed systems perspective, which means that I think it is important to look at and know as many pieces as possible of the puzzle that makes up your life because our histories, environments, and communities play a big role in the way we see ourselves and respond to the world around us.
Some general information about me. I identify as a Black (biracial), Queer, and Neurodivergent. I enjoy spending time with the people I love and my dog Hazel and cats Oreo and Midnight. I like to soak up the sun, start countless unfinished arts and crafts, and sing terribly off key. Thank you for honoring me with your story and I look forward to getting to walk with you on your journey.
