I am Naomi Schoenberg. I have been working in the mental health field since 2012 as a school counselor supporting children and families in the school setting. I then shifted my career to be a school-based therapist in helping create the unique family school and child connection. I am now shifting into outpatient with the hope to continue to provide families support in navigating the challenging waters that life brings.
As a mental health therapist, it is my mission to provide holistic support to the client. I hold the perspective that we are all doing the best we can with what we have. It is important to me to create a welcoming non-judgmental, caring, and calm environment. Helping my family to have the courage to be vulnerable and engage in the change that they want to see in their lives and empower them to also feel confident in being able to support their children in developing the skills to live life with confidence.
At CARE counseling I provide therapy to male, female, and nonbinary people from ages 5 to 18 years. I have a specialty in working with school-age children, children managing chronic illness, family change and divorce, ADHD, anxiety, learning disabilities, and working with non-English speaking families.
I graduated from Adler Graduate School with a focus on school counseling and clinical therapy. Prior to that, I completed my bachelors at the University of Minnesota with a major in Psychology and a minor in Theater.
Other specialty certificates I have include ADHD Coaching, Academic Coaching, and a certified Yoga Calm Mindfulness teacher. As a therapist, I incorporate all of the elements that I have learned in my education and apply them to the work that I do with children and families. My therapy is also informed by Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, solution-focused therapy, and Adlerian Therapy.
I grew up in Minnesota in the St. Paul & Minneapolis areas.
I enjoy the outdoors and nature therapy. I love spending time out on the water in my canoe, hiking, camping, and playing with my cat. I also enjoy learning how to dance, because I can feel my brain making new connections through movement. I am looking forward to meeting you and to start making great connections!
