Hey! I am Talea Plata. I have a Master’s degree in Social Work and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. More importantly, I consider myself a holistic healer and that healing comes through exploring all aspects of a person. I enjoy incorporating breath and simple movements in sessions to help move stagnant or stuck energy through the body. I like to think of life as a good book and every day we create the past, present and future of our story. We write our own scripts. However, we don’t exist in the world alone and other peoples’ stories interact with ours and sometimes those situations leave wounds. Other times we don’t even realize we are the ones writing our story.
I support people in exploring their history, not to judge or condemn it but to make peace with it. So that you take the lessons from your past to the next chapter of your life without the baggage. Therapy is a journey to get closer to the best version of who you are. It allows you to pause, reflect and observe how life has shaped you thus far? To ask where do you want to go next? What do you need to do to get there? I enjoy helping people explore who they are and to ask themselves is this who they want to continue to be.
I specialize in helping people heal from various forms of trauma. The types of traumas I specialize in are childhood trauma, domestic abuse victims, racial trauma specifically in black bodies, sexual abuse and relational trauma.
I help professionals that experience imposter syndrome, feeling like they are not fit to be doing the work they are doing, despite their qualifications. I help high functioning people that struggle to cope with experiences of anxiety and depression. I enjoy helping people that experience irritability and sadness, fatigue, issues with identity and worth, to feel a sense of joy, peace and confidence.
Feeling burnt out and overwhelmed, like there are not enough hours in the day, especially not enough to take care of yourself? We can work together to restore a sense of peace and strength within yourself to deal with whatever life gives you, without feeling drained by it.
Do you feel as though you have it all or that others tell you that your life is great, but you still feel like something is wrong or missing? Do you have issues with being vulnerable and opening to others, receiving help from those around you? Do you find yourself being the caretaker of everyone and never have enough to give yourself? You may feel compelled to put others first in life. If any of this resonates, you may have found your therapist. Reach out to me, so together we can began helping you experience a happier, healthier more meaningful life.
A little about me. When I am not in sessions with you, I am enjoying being a boy mom. I love traveling, especially solo trips to islands, being in nature, practicing yoga, and binging Netflix of course.
