I am so thankful that the stigma about mental health and therapy is lessening, and more people are talking comfortably about mental health. I am also grateful to be able to provide telehealth therapy to the greater MN area. My area of specialty is working with teens, yet I also have experience and really enjoy working with adults on issues involving anxiety, depression, and trauma. I have spent the last 10 years working with teens in different areas of their lives such as: in their homes, at school, in a diversion program, and in residential treatment settings. I spent 5 years working in a school with kids struggling with emotional and behavioral disorders and through that experience, I have worked alongside parents/guardians, educators, social workers, probation officers, mental health case managers, and have experience of the Special Ed. Process and IEP’s. I understand potential struggles working in a school system as a former school counselor and teacher. I also have both an understanding and appreciation of mental health needs in rural Minnesota.
In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family, friends, and two dogs. I enjoy riding motorcycles, camping, traveling, road trips, crafting, and listening to music.
Finding the right fit for a therapist is an important step in one’s therapeutic journey. I may not be the right fit for everyone, but I hope to be the right fit for you. I bring to therapy sessions being an empathic listener using an eclectic approach as a generalist using client-centered, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal processing, motivational interviewing, relational therapy, solution-focused, structural family, and systemic interventions.
