There’s a huge disparity between community mental health centers and private practices.

Providers are typically forced to choose between the higher salary afforded by private practices, or choose to work for a mental health center that provides a strong sense of community, a rich culture and solid support system – though it probably isn’t able to pay as much.

Dr. Andrea Hutchinson and John Hutchinson, MBA, the co-founders of CARE Counseling, set out years ago to change all that.

Clientele: We want you to find clients who give you energy and give you purpose, we want to help you find both.

Modality: We support a wide variety of modalities; it is well known that clinical staff are the ‘tool’ in therapy – we want to support the most authentic version of your authentic self during those sessions as that is the best way to ensure quality client experiences.

Schedule: We are a big fans of ‘flexing’ schedules, it takes a minute to get used to any clinics’ systems but once you have our system down we want you to leverage flexibility.

Clinician Growth

At CARE we never want you to feel like you are stuck in a “growth rut.” To ensure continual professional growth in our clinicians, we provide the following:

  • The value of an individual weekly consult. This meeting with CARE allows you to raise new ideas, voice concerns, and provide input on your caseload.
  • Opportunity to be Supervisor
  • Have input in your schedule. On a quarterly basis you can arrange your schedule in a way that ensures you won’t burn out.

Community involvement

  • CARE more CARE more is a non-profit community initiative created by CARE Counseling for the purpose of creating systemic change within the mental health community. There is a need to raise awareness, take action, and call out discrimination. At CARE, we recognize the health disparities in mental health as well as stigma that still exits for many people to receive mental health treatment. Learn more at CAREmoreMN.com
  • Community Presentations – At CARE we know that the stigmatization surrounding mental illness is a very real barrier when it comes to people seeking help. This is why we present at schools, and non-profits so that we can play a part in reducing this stigma within our community.
  • Supporting Organizations – We partner annually with the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) in order to raise funds, and participate in the 5K run/walk to help support the millions affected by mental illness.
  • Team Initiatives – We want to know what YOU care about! We value the ideas and passions of our staff, and want to ensure that CARE supports these initiatives in any way that we can

Interested in Working with care?

Billing and Fees

We are in network with most MN based insurance companies. We encourage people to call their insurance carrier to verify that their particular policy will cover services. Additionally, our billing team will verify insurance benefits before a client’s first visit assuming we have all the necessary information and enough time prior to the appointment. A direct pay rate, which is a reduced rate, is available for uninsured private pay clients. We have a sliding fee scale available based on family size and income. We will not denied access to services due to inability to pay. This scale is based on the federal poverty line and to see if you qualify, please reach out to our billing partner.
