Infertility

What is infertility?

Infertility is when a woman is unable to get pregnant though she has been having unprotected sex for at least 1 year. However, infertility issues can be due to a man or woman in the couple. If you’re having trouble conceiving, you should schedule a visit with a reproductive endocrinologist. These doctors specialize in this area and can help you find out if you may be struggling with infertility. There are several treatments for infertility, and you should talk to your doctor to decide what could be right for you.

Is infertility common?

If you are struggling with infertility, you are not alone. 6% of women aged 15-44 are unable to get pregnant after a year of trying, and 12% of women aged 15-44 experience difficulty getting pregnant or carrying the fetus to term. Even if you have a supportive partner, you may feel alone in this process. If you’re feeling alone, lost, or frustrated, it may be worth consulting a mental health clinician.
