If awarded by the Minnesota Loan Forgiveness Program (MNLFP), the employee could receive up to ~11k in loan forgiveness annually for up to 4 years, for a total of ~$44k (double that for doctoral level employee). Additional details below.
Licensing Requirements: Independently licensed and practicing unsupervised or will be by fall of the next year (LADC, LP, LPCC, LMFT, LICSW, NP). The provider would need to continue operating under the same license.
Minimum service obligation: Serve 3 years minimum/4 years maximum; provider will be required to repay the total amount paid plus interest if minimum service is not fulfilled.
Timing: Applicants are accepted every fall, and awards are offered by the beginning of the next year. Recipients begin their service obligation no later than March 31 following selection.
Potential MNLFP Awards:
– LICSW’s, LMFT’s, and LPCC’s could receive $11,000/year for 4 years = $44,000 total!
– Psychiatric NP’s could receive $14,000/year = $56,000 total!
– Doctoral LP’s could receive $28,000/year = $112,000 total!
Service requirements: Full-time employment (at least 30 hours per week) for at least 45 weeks per year and provide service to at least 25% public program participants (i.e. medical assistance).
