about the domestic abuse project

History of the Domestic Abuse Project

Domestic Abuse Project (DAP) has been serving Minnesota communities since 1979. By innovative, and effective programming their goal is to end inter-generational domestic violence. DAP has made it their mission to build communities free from violence and providing holistic healing experiences for all members in the family.

The main focuses of DAP are to provide crisis intervention and immediate assistance for survivors of domestic violence and their families. Their advocates help victims develop safety plans, file protective orders, and find safe shelter. Advocates at DAP reach out to all victims of domestic violence that have been identified in Minneapolis police reports to provide ongoing support and referrals to these individuals.

DAP therapy works with adult male perpetrators and adult female survivors of domestic violence, as well as children and adolescents who have witnessed or experienced abuse. Their team consists of a Men’s Team, Women’s Team, and a Youth Services Team and offers individual and group counseling sessions.

DAP’s newest program CHANGE STEP reaches out to help better serve the veterans in our community.
