Hello! My name is Sheila Hennen. I am a trained and certified nurse practitioner in family medicine and psychiatry. My training and years of experience in the medical field allows me to provide evidenced based medicine. I believe in working with you, the client, to provide an individualized approach to your medication management. I firmly believe in working together as a team with you, your therapist, family medicine provider, and myself to provide all encompassing care. Together we will make decisions about what medications are right for you.
I started my medical/nursing career as a nursing assistant in 2003 and worked my way up through the field. I started my nurse practitioner career in 2017. As a nurse practitioner I initially received my doctorate degree from Metropolitan State University with a focus on family medicine. As a family medicine provider, I practiced in urgent care, addiction medicine, and with a local homeless population. Through my early experience, I found that I was unable to fully care for the psychiatric needs of my patients appropriately. The high need, along with my passion for working and caring for patients needing psychiatric care, brought me to Winona State University. This is where I completed my psychiatric education and then became certified as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Through obtaining this education and certification, along with my family medicine certification and education, I am now able to fully care for patients’ psychiatric needs.
I look forward to getting to know you as well as helping you be the best and happiest you on your journey in life!
