Hello! My name is Sammi and I’m so glad you’re here!
Whether this is your first time looking into therapy, or you’re hoping to continue on your journey of mental health, my goal is to meet you where you are at and create a space where you feel validated and supported. Everyone has a story that brings in a unique perspective and contributes to who they are. Due to the impact of contextual factors on our cultural identities, I am committed to recognizing how systemic and societal pressures influence our experience. I am here to listen to your story, see through your lens, and work with you to use your strengths to meet your goals.
I view therapy as a joint experience where my knowledge and skills are combined with yours to develop and achieve personalized goals. I will adapt my person-centered, cognitive behavioral, and interpersonal therapeutic approach to meet your unique needs. I enjoy collaborating with children, adolescents, adults, and families to work through anxiety, depression, ADHD, suicidal ideation, self-injurious behaviors, emotional regulation, impulsive behavior, life transitions, interpersonal conflict, and trauma.
I have had a bit of a winding journey to becoming a mental health professional. I earned my Master’s of Education in School, Educational, and Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia which had a strong emphasis on positive psychology and coaching. After working with college athletes for a few years on life and transition counseling, I decided to return to school for additional training. I graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato with my Master of Science degree in School Psychology. I am currently working on my doctorate in School Psychology to pursue licensure as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist and Licenced Psychologist in Minnesota. I have experience working within school districts to provide educational, behavioral, and mental health support within the school setting and working directly with families outside of schools. I am passionate about school, family, and community collaboration and establishing an accessible, well-rounded plan of care.
In my free time, I love being active and in nature. I enjoy hiking, camping, reading, doing crafts, board games, and playing sports. My dog, Stella, is my adventure buddy. I look forward to hearing about your goals, interests, and hobbies, and most importantly what makes you, YOU.
