Seeking therapy can feel overwhelming filled with fears and uncertainty. I am here to provide a safe space that’s comfortable for you to be able to express yourself. I believe the foundation of therapy is the therapeutic relationship. I will help guide you through self-awareness, build up your self-confidence and tap into the resilience you already hold. I will do this with compassion and without judgement. My approach is tailored to each individual and we work together to identify goals for treatment to help build healthier ways of living and experiencing life.
My experience is primarily with adults with a variety of life experiences, challenges, and strengths. I have worked with individuals who experience serious and persistent mental illness, adjustments, interpersonal difficulties, chronic medical conditions, anxiety disorders and trauma. I have also experience with individuals who have been involved in legal issues and in the criminal justice system.
I am informed by modalities including person centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma informed care. I utilize skills and components of exposure therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. Essentially, I will support you and gently challenge some behaviors or thoughts that might be an obstacle. We will find ways to work through difficult thoughts and emotions and learn to move forward with new ways of coping. We will acknowledge when there’s a set back and most importantly, will celebrate when there’s growth.
I think it’s helpful to know people usually describe me as down to earth, comforting, and honest.
