Did you know that ALL of us have trauma in some form? And did you know that our bodies carry that trauma and get activated any time we experience stress? And because it is typically impossible to think clearly when our trauma responses are activated, so many of us encounter deep struggles in managing them effectively or finding any meaningful change even when participating in therapy. This is why I utilize somatic approaches to complicated emotions that can access healing holistically with evidenced-based modalities that can address our thoughts and behaviors next.
Intrigued? Just wait until you try it!! As a therapist that has practiced since 2007, I have found a method to access all our parts in this work while emphasizing humor, self-compassion, and authenticity. With a strong interest in neuroscience, polyvagal theory, and attachment theory, I focus on your internal resources that bring you back to your highest self. I am also certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy, which uses lateral eye movements to quickly heal the negative effects of trauma in the body in just 1-4 sessions, on average.
My main clientele is now adults, but I have nearly two decades of experience working with behavioral and emotional challenges in children and parenting skills. Couples and family work will incorporate neuroscience and attachment styles so we understand clearly why it gets so hard and to ensure that each individual’s needs are honored.
I’m committed to identifying and working on my own colonial and white supremacist influences and especially passionate about LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC experiences in order to sustain the greater community with a focus on inclusion for all populations and identities, so we might understand how to best address our unique needs in order to access our best selves everywhere we work and play.
My approach is also informed by a range of therapeutic schools of thought including IFS, Somatic, Narrative, DBT, and CBT.
When I’m not working my dream job, I find joy in gardening, hiking, singing/playing/dancing to music, studying herbalism, snuggling with my kittens, or encouraging my kids to be even sillier.
It would be an absolute honor to support you. 🙂
