If you are considering seeing a therapist improve your mental health, I am already so proud of you. This can take a lot of bravery and vulnerability and I am honored to be in this place with you.
My goal as a therapist is to hold a space for you in whatever phase of life you are in. Your voice will always be valued and honored should you choose to join me. If this is a voice of constant worries, low self-esteem or feeling down, intrusive thoughts or anxiety then you have come to the right place. Everyone struggles with mental health at some level. If these symptoms are impacting your ability to be with your friends and family, go to school or work or move forward in your life then I hope we can have the chance to work together to gently move past this difficult time. It is possible to start to feel like yourself again and I hope you chose to start here.
I strive to use holistic practices meaning that your whole self is welcome and honored in this therapeutic space. No one knows you better than you know yourself and I am simply here to help guide you through challenges to the greatness that is already inside you. I also utilize mindfulness, person-centered therapy, play therapy, and motivational interviewing in my therapy practice, allowing for unique treatment to all clients. People are unique, wonderful, and complex and their therapy journey should reflect that.
I graduated from Drake University with my BA in psychology and sociology and transitioned into various mental health jobs before getting my MSW at the University of Minnesota. During my time as a social worker (unofficial and official), I have focused on partnering with children, adolescents, and their families to address the presence of mental health in the client and family. Most recently I have worked closely with families and children at a pediatric hospital addressing mental health crises and providing intervention and stabilization.
I identify as a cis-gendered woman, queer and Jewish. My pronouns are she/her/hers. When I’m not at work I am painting, spending time with my cats, being active outside, or watching movies with my husband! I look forward to getting to know you and partnering with you on your mental health journey.
