My work as a therapist revolves around the relationship. I believe that without a connection between you and I, the work that we can do will be limited. I center getting to know you, asking questions, being open and curious, and meeting you in whatever place you are when you come to therapy. Together, we can also explore how your relationships with others impact you and your overall well-being. I believe we are relational beings with a need for connection, understanding and belonging.
I love working with kids ages 12 and up as well as adults throughout the lifespan. In my practice, you will hopefully find a warm and welcoming space that allows you to be your full self without judgment. I will work with you to establish meaningful focus for your hours in counseling and support you in your goals. I use a relational and psychodynamic approach with my clients as well as draw from multiple other modalities as needed to meet specific needs. I am EMDR trained and often use it to assist in healing past traumatic experiences.
I received my Masters in Social Work from the University of Minnesota in 2010 and have my License as a Independent Clinical Social Worker. I provide supervision for pre-licensed mental health practitioners and love that part of my work as well.
When not at work, I love to spend time with my kids, play outside, pretend to be a gardener, walk/jog, read novels, and eat good food with friends. I grew up here in MN but lived abroad, in other parts of the US, coming back for graduate school in 2008. I love interacting with people from other places and with different perspectives and identities than mine as it truly makes life so much richer! Looking forward to walking this road with you.
