Hello! I’m glad you’re here. Life can be challenging.
I work with each person to understand what’s happening, and then together begin to define goals for therapy. My approach to therapy is person-centered, collaborative, solution-focused, and always moving toward increased hope and resiliency. My approach with each person is active, engaged, and often directive—and at the same time, a calm, reflective space to share vulnerable feelings and experiences.
I practice trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based therapy, with multiple approaches, including: CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, DBT, REBT, Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, and Motivation-Enhancement Therapy. My professional education, training, and experience includes co-occurring disorders, substance use and mental health, as well as depression, anxiety, adjustment to life transitions, ADHD, trauma, mood disorders, grief/loss, and ambiguous loss.
Before joining CARE Counseling, I worked as a co-occurring therapist for substance use and mental health concerns. Often, it is difficult to sort out feelings, symptoms, and challenging situations. Solutions may include multiple, integrated approaches, and then beginning steps to move forward—feeling better and gaining personal resiliency.
My previous career in higher education also informs my therapy practice, including learning styles, neurodiverse processing, cognitive recovery, success strategies, and practices to initiate and sustain change. My personal and professional experience includes cultural diversity—global, social, economic, age, race, ethnicity, gender, and learning.
